Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur admitted after the 76-run defeat to New Zealand in the second women’s ODI on Sunday 27 (October) that her team needs to immediately overcome its batting problems. Chasing the target of 260 runs to win, the Indian team was out for 183 runs in 47.1 overs. The team had lost eight wickets for 108 runs. Harmanpreet said after the match, “We could not perform as per expectations. These players are ready and eager to perform well for the country. Batting is something we really need to work on and if we do that we can win the series. I think our fielding was also bad. We gave away a lot of runs and dropped a lot of catches. This target could have been achieved but we did not bat well. It was good to see that Radha and Saima performed well in batting. We kept losing wickets continuously while chasing the target. We will focus on building partnerships in the next match.
