After the blockbuster success of ‘Stree 2’, Bollywood has withdrawn itself, now taking help from South and Hollywood

Usually when a film becomes a hit, the box office is crowded with films. But even after the great success of ‘Stree 2’, the cinema halls do not seem to be bustling with activity in the coming days. This is the reason why the audience will have to rely only on South and Hollywood films on the festival release dates of the remaining year. Here is a report:

The film ‘Stree 2’, which was released on 15th August, which was considered a profitable release date, surprised everyone by making a strong entry into the 500 crore club. Whereas before this, no Hindi film had been able to reach this level this year. The owners of cinema halls which were lying empty for a long time were hoping that after the blockbuster success of Stree, the producers who postponed their films in the first half of the year due to IPL and Lok Sabha elections would show their strength in the second half.

After the blockbuster success of ‘Stree 2’ many films postponed

Now the surprising thing is that even after the blockbuster success of ‘Stree 2’, many producers have postponed their films to next year. There is talk of postponing the release of many other films. For example, Akshay Kumar’s film Skyforce, which was to be released on Dussehra this year, has now been postponed to the weekend of January 26 next year. While his/her film Welcome 3, which was to be released on Christmas this year, has also been postponed indefinitely.

Threat from Hollywood movie ‘Joker 2’ or ‘Deevra’?

Experts believe that this decision has been taken due to many of Akshay’s films being flops this year. The reason for postponing Skyforce could also be to avoid clash with Junior NTR’s ‘Devara’ and Hollywood film ‘Joker 2’. Earlier, the release of Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Raid 2’ has been postponed to next year. It is being said that this decision was taken due to the release of his/her film ‘Singham 3’ from August to November. Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Deva’ which was to be released on Dussehra this year will be released next year. Actually, earlier many South films were going to be released on Dussehra. Therefore, the producers postponed Shahid’s film.

No big films on Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra

If we believe the experts of the film world, this year not only Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, no big Bollywood film is releasing. While both are considered profitable release dates, no big budget Bollywood film is releasing in the two months of September and October. While Junior NTR’s film ‘Devra’ and Hollywood’s famous film ‘Joker 2’ will release on Gandhi Jayanti weekend, Rajinikanth’s ‘Vettiyan’, Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ and Rajkumar Rao’s Vicky Vidya’s ‘Woh Wala Video’ will release on Dussehra weekend. There is also talk of some films announced on Diwali and Christmas in November and December being postponed. Recently, the makers of ‘Singham Again’ have once again announced that they are coming opposite ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ on Diwali. But after the blockbuster success of the horror comedy genre film Stree, experts are still expressing doubts on the clash of Singham 3 with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 of the same genre. Similarly, the news of the postponement of the release of Aamir Khan’s film Sitare Zameen Par, which was announced for Christmas, is also hot in the film world. Experts believe that due to the poor performance of films this year and to avoid clash with the popular Hollywood franchise film ‘Mufasa’ which is releasing on Christmas, Aamir’s film may be postponed. Earlier, the release of Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed due to not getting the censor certificate.

The second half of last year was strong

Last year, Sunny Deol’s film ‘Gadar 2’, released on Independence Day weekend, earned more than 500 crores. Earlier in January, Shahrukh Khan’s Pathan also entered the 500 crore club. But after January, the real shine returned to the box office directly in August. But after that, not only big films were released continuously, but they also performed well. Especially the second half and last quarter of the year had bumper earnings. But this time, even after the bumper success of ‘Stree 2’ in August, the producers of big films are not ready to release their films in the second half. This is the reason that in the remaining months of this year, only South and Hollywood films will entertain the audience on festive release dates.

‘It was certain that this year would be a weak one for the box office’

Producer and film business analyst Girish Johar says, ‘Last year was a blockbuster year for Bollywood. But due to the lack of release of big films, it was already decided that this year would be a weak one for the box office. Stree 2 has definitely given a blockbuster performance recently, but other big Bollywood films are not ready for release this year. Therefore, the second half of this year is likely to have less box office collections than last year.’
