Mukesh Kumar Singh, best known for directing ‘Mahabharata’ on TV, is now trying to bring the epic to the big screen. After ‘Kannappa’, which stars Mohanlal, R Sarathkumar, Akshay Kumar, Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu and Prabhas, Mukesh has now set his/her sights on making a three-part film based on the epic. he/she recently spoke about this and revealed what plans he/she has for it. he/she said, ‘I have always had a deep interest in Hindu mythology and our history. Directing Mahabharat on television was a dream come true. The project was a once in a lifetime experience, not only for me but for everyone involved. Mahabharata may come on the big screen

Discussing what makes ‘Mahabharat’ his/her dream project for the big screen, Mukesh says, “I am planning to make it in three parts, the production of which will begin next October. Nowadays, sequels are the norm and I have already planned a sequel for this project. Mahabharat is such a vast and epic saga that it is almost impossible to capture its essence in just three parts, let alone one film. I want to cast actors who will not overshadow the characters and who will be completely dedicated to the project.”

What did the filmmaker say about ‘Kannappa’

On casting stars like Akshay Kumar, Mohan Babu and Prabhas in ‘Kannappa’, Mukesh says, ‘Working on the film was a learning experience for me. Despite achieving so much in their careers, these actors worked with dedication, humility and honesty. Their enthusiasm and preparation was truly inspiring.’

What is the difference between TV and movies?

Having directed several television shows, Mukesh found the transition to filmmaking seamless. “For me, the difference between TV and films is mainly in the mindset. I often have ample time while setting up a TV show, which helps me maintain quality without any rush. This approach made the transition to films easier. I usually work for three to four months and then take a break,” he/she says.
