New Delhi: PM Modi has once again become a topic of discussion in world politics. Today, PM Modi warmly hugged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and put his/her hand on his/her shoulder. The whole world is praising the way PM Modi has applied the balm of friendship on the wounds of Ukraine, which has suffered due to war. This style of PM Modi reflects India’s spirit of true friendship with its friendly countries. However, when PM Modi hugged Russian President Putin 6 months ago, he/she became the target of Western countries and Ukraine. he/she was also criticized fiercely. But on Friday, PM Modi hugged Zelensky in Putin style and told the world that India sympathizes with both the countries. Also, India is in favor of peaceful solution instead of war.

PM Modi met Zelensky in Kiev

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday began his/her visit to Ukraine by meeting President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine in the history of bilateral relations. The two leaders met at the Martyrologist exhibition in Kyiv, a video of which has surfaced, in which PM Modi is seen hugging Zelensky after shaking hands. Giving an important gesture as a symbol of India’s solidarity with Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi placed his/her hand firmly on Zelensky’s shoulder and emphasized India’s support over the conflict with Russia.

What is India’s view on the Russia-Ukraine war?

The Kyiv visit comes after Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia last month, where he/she discussed the situation in Ukraine with President Vladimir Putin. India has consistently maintained its position on the Russia-Ukraine war. India has advocated a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. Prime Minister Modi had earlier discussed the conflict with President Zelensky on June 14 during the 50th G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy and reaffirmed India’s commitment to a peaceful resolution. Apart from diplomatic efforts, New Delhi has also provided significant humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including essential medicines and medical equipment, demonstrating its support for the Ukrainian people.
