Know how the strength of the Navy will increase

India is in talks with France to build three more such submarines at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) to strengthen its position in the Indian Ocean. China’s growing power in the Indian Ocean and the rules-based international system are facing challenges. On August 29, India commissioned its second indigenous nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Arighat, at Visakhapatnam.

India’s hold on the sea will be strengthened

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said at that time that this would further strengthen India’s nuclear triad. Will enhance nuclear deterrence and help establish strategic balance in the region. Arighat or S-3 is the second Arihant-class submarine and is more advanced than INS Arihant (S-2). The country’s third nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, the Aridman or S-4, is also expected to be inducted next year. After that, preparations for the fourth SSBN, which will be named S-4, will proceed. The last two Arihant-class submarines are expected to be larger and capable of launching long-range missiles.

The Navy is also considering building two nuclear-powered conventionally armed submarines to deter the country’s adversaries in the Indo-Pacific region. Earlier this month, the Navy had commissioned a submarine rescue training facility named Vinetra at INS Satavahana in Visakhapatnam. This facility is designed to provide rapid response to crew members when a Kalvari-class submarine is in distress.
