After Delhi, odd-even scheme will be implemented here, but pollution is not the reason, news for tourists


As soon as winter starts in Delhi, the level of air pollution also increases. And now you can see this situation in areas suffering from heavy pollution. Where in the morning and evening there is just fog everywhere. In such a situation, to reduce the level of air pollution i.e. AQI level, Delhi government brings odd-even rule. This rule is applied on cars i.e. vehicles running in Delhi. But now you will be able to see these rules in other states also. Yes, and this state is Sikkim in Eastern India, where odd-even has been started for no other reason than pollution.

As soon as the name of Sikkim comes up, many people would be surprised that how did air pollution start happening in a beautiful place like the hills? Due to which odd-even should be started on the cars and vehicles running here. So let us tell you, the air of Sikkim is very clean. There is no need to worry about air pollution here.

In fact, as soon as the winter season starts, the crowd of tourists here becomes so much that the people living here get worried. A large number of people are coming to Sikkim to see the first snowfall of the season. Because of this, odd-even rule will be implemented in vehicles.

With the onset of the first snowfall of the season, Gangtok, Sikkim witnessed a significant increase in tourist footfall. In such a situation, keeping in mind the further arrival of tourists, the Sikkim government has decided to balance the vehicles coming into the city. This is why ‘Odd-Even’ will be introduced here.

The odd-even rule in vehicles will start from 5 November 2024. The aim of this rule is to reduce congestion on the busy roads of Gangtok. It has been implemented according to Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. These rules will continue till further orders.

If you are going to Gangtok, then first know about this rule. Here the odd-even rule will be applied to both private and government vehicles. This will be based on your registration number i.e. the last digit of the vehicle number plate. Vehicles with registration numbers ending in odd digits (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) can run on odd numbered dates. Whereas trains ending with even digits i.e. (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) will run on even numbered dates.

The odd-even rule will be implemented during peak traffic hours, from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon and again from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm daily. This relaxation will be given in the odd-even rule between 12 noon and 3:30 pm. Apart from this, this rule will be applicable on the second and fourth Saturday and Sunday of the month. Also, this will not be applicable on government holidays also.
