At the time of the 1944 film ‘Jwar Bhata’, actress Devika Rani changed Yusuf Khan’s name to Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar had also told another story about changing his/her name.

Name changed because of this
The actor had said, “My father was strongly against films. he/she had a very good friend, whose name was Lala Bansi Nath. his/her sons used to act in films. My father often complained to him/her that what have you done. Look what your young and healthy boy does.” he/she further explains, “When I came into films, I was very scared that when he/she would know, he/she would be very angry. he/she could even beat me. At that time three names were kept in front of me. Yusuf Khan, Dilip Kumar and Basudev. I said don’t name Yusuf Khan, name the rest whatever comes to your heart”.

Second marriage with Asma Rehman
44 year old Dilip Kumar married 22 year old Saira Banu. Both had married in the year 1966. Saira Banu supported Dilip Kumar till the end. However, Dilip Kumar had deeply hurt Saira Banu. You would be surprised to know that despite being married, the actor had remarried. Dilip Kumar married Asma Rehman in the year 1981, from whom he/she was divorced in 1983.
