New Delhi. When the Sri Lankan team entered the first match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa, the captain’s plan was to make a strong start to the tournament by taking two points. South African fast bowler Enrique Norkia dashed the intentions of Lankan captain Vanindu Hasaranga. Norkia, who took four wickets in the match, changed the direction of the wind. he/she broke the back of the Lankan batting order by taking three wickets in 10 balls. Sri Lankan T20 was all out for just 77 runs. This is Sri Lanka’s lowest score in the T20 format so far. India has a lot to learn from this match.

Captain Aiden Markram put Enrique Norkia on the bowling attack in the eighth over. he/she dismissed Kamindu Mendis on the fifth ball. After this, Norkia was again on the bowling attack in the 10th over. he/she got Kusal Mendis, who was playing after scoring 19 runs, caught out on the last ball. In the 12th over, he/she also dismissed Aslanka on a personal score of six runs.

The record of lowest economy was made
With this, Enrique Norkia has made a record of bowling the lowest economy spell in the history of T20 World Cup. he/she gave only seven runs in his/her four overs at an economy of 1.80. During this, he/she took four wickets. This record was earlier in the name of Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis. he/she had made this record against Zimbabwe in the 2012 T20 World Cup.

How is it a warning signal for India?
It is natural to have this question in mind that the teams of Sri Lanka and South Africa are not even in India’s group. In such a situation, how can this be a danger signal for the team captained by Rohit Sharma. Actually, this is not because of Sri Lanka and South Africa but because of the pitch of Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. This ground of New York is brand new, where a drop-in pitch has been made. Usually, a drop-in pitch is considered good for batting but uneven bounce is being seen here. The pitch is being described as very slow, due to which the batsmen are having a lot of difficulty in playing shots. India has to play three out of four matches of the group stage on this pitch. Even during the practice match, Team India had to struggle a lot to score runs on this pitch. In such a situation, Team India will have to bat carefully.
