Afghanistan’s young ‘fighters’ created history, defeated Sri Lanka in the final


New Delhi. Afghanistan A team surprised everyone and won the Emerging Team Asia Cup title. Afghan young fighters defeated Sri Lanka A team by 7 wickets in the final. Afghanistan achieved the target of 134 runs in 18.1 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. In this victory, Afghanistan’s opener Sadiqullah Atal scored the highest score of 55 runs. Spinner Allah Ghazanfar was given the Player of the Match award for his/her excellent bowling. Today is a historic day for Afghanistan cricket.

Sri Lanka A team, batting first, scored 133 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Middle order batsman Sahan Arakshige scored the highest 64 runs. Nimesh Vimukthi was out after scoring 23 runs while Pawan Ratnayake contributed 20 runs. Three Sri Lankan batsmen could touch double figures. For Afghanistan, Bilaj Sami took maximum 3 wickets while Allah Ghazanfar took 2 wickets.

Sediqullah scored the highest score of 55 runs.
The Afghanistan team, which came to chase the target of 134 runs set by Sri Lanka A, had a very bad start. Sahan gave a big blow to Afghanistan by bowling opener Zubaid Akbari on the very first ball of the first over of the innings. After this, Sadiqullah Atal and captain Darwish Rasoli together took the inning forward. Both of them made a partnership of 43 runs for the second wicket. Rasoli was out after scoring 20 runs in 24 balls. After this, Karim Janat scored 33 runs on 27 balls while Mohammad Ishaq returned unbeaten after scoring 16 runs on 6 balls. Sediqullah scored 55 runs in 55 balls and returned unbeaten after leading the team to the title win.
