New Delhi. As soon as Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup, Australia was eliminated from the tournament. This victory of Afghanistan not only ended Australia’s journey but also ended David Warner’s international career. Australia’s David Warner must have hoped that Bangladesh’s victory would give him/her a chance to play further but this did not happen.

37-year-old David Warner had already announced that this would be his/her last T20 World Cup. If the Afghanistan team had lost to Bangladesh, Australia would have qualified for the semi-finals. This would have also given David Warner a chance to play. But with Bangladesh’s defeat, it was decided that Warner would no longer get a farewell from the field. David Warner retired from ODI and Test cricket in December last year. he/she played his/her last Test against Pakistan on 6 January 2024. Warner played his/her last ODI on 19 November.

David Warner played 112 Tests for Australia. he/she scored 8786 runs in these 112 Test matches with an average of 44.59 and 26 centuries. his/her highest score in Test cricket was 335 (not out).

David Warner scored 6932 runs in 161 ODIs for Australia at an average of 45.30. he/she scored 22 centuries in the ODI format. In T20 International cricket, he/she has scored 3277 runs in 110 matches.
