Afghanistan-New Zealand Test got cancelled without a ball being bowled, for the first time in India… stadium may be banned

New Delhi. What was feared happened. The Afghanistan-New Zealand Test match was cancelled without even a ball being bowled. This is the first time that a Test match was cancelled on Indian soil without even a single ball being bowled. The match scheduled to be played at the Greater Noida Stadium could not be played for the first four days. The situation was the same on the fifth day, Friday. The players of Afghanistan and New Zealand reached the ground at 8.45 am, but once again they had to return without playing.

This is the first time in the 90-year history of Indian cricket that a test match was cancelled without even a ball being bowled. BCCI is also being criticized for this. However, BCCI shirks its responsibility by saying that Afghanistan was given the option of three different stadiums (cities) for the match. After this, Afghanistan chose Noida. But BCCI’s clarification does not answer how it gave the option of a stadium where even basic facilities for drying the ground were not available. The world saw that after the rain, an attempt was made to dry the stadium with a table fan.

Greater Noida’s Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Stadium is now in danger of being banned. Javagal Srinath, who was the match referee in the Afghanistan-New Zealand Test, will now submit his/her report to the ICC. The opinion of the coaches of both the teams will also be important. The ICC will take its decision based on all this. This is the eighth time in Test history that not even a single ball could be bowled in a Test match and it was cancelled.
