Pakistan lost to Afghanistan for the first time in international cricket

Afghanistan vs Pakistan: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) often tries to copy Indian cricket in many ways. In this episode, the PCB, adopting the formula of Team India against Afghanistan, decided to field its youth team, whose command was handed over to Shadab Khan. Recently, this has been seen in Indian cricket for a few years, but India’s bench strength has more than one promising cricketer like Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Umran Malik, Shivam Mavi. But this formula of Pakistan failed in the first test itself. In the first match of the three-match T20 series, Afghanistan thrashed Pakistan badly.

In the first T20 match played in Sharjah, Afghanistan beat Pakistan in such a way as if any associate nation’s team is in bad condition. This was the first international victory over Pakistan in the 11-year history of the Afghan team. Not only this, Pakistan made its fifth T20 International’s lowest score in this match. At the same time, it happened for the 9th time that the Pakistan team was able to score less than 100 in the prescribed 20 overs in T20 International. In this match, Pakistan’s team did not get all out and could score only 92 runs (4.6 run rate) for 9 wickets in 20 overs. This was his/her second slowest innings in terms of run rate in the history of T20 Internationals.

Afghanistan won after waiting for 11 years

In this way, the Pakistani team, which made not one but many embarrassing records in Sharjah T20, had to face defeat at the hands of Afghanistan for the first time in 11 years. This was the fourth T20 International between the two teams. Overall, both the teams were meeting for the 8th time (also 4 ODIs) in white ball cricket. For the first time in 2012, both the teams faced each other in ODIs. After waiting for 11 years, the Afghan team has recorded a historic victory for the first time by defeating Pakistan. Rashid Khan-led team easily won this match by 6 wickets. The last time both the teams met in the Asia Cup 2022 where Pakistan’s full strength team also narrowly escaped defeat.

Talking about this match, while playing first, Pakistan team played full 20 overs but could score only 92 runs after losing 9 wickets. For Afghanistan, Fazal-Haq-Farooqui took two wickets for just 13 runs in 4 overs, while Mujeeb ur Rehman was even more economical than them. Mujeeb gave only 9 runs in 4 overs and took two wickets. Apart from this, Mohammad Nabi also took two wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs. Captain Rashid Khan, Azmatullah and Naveen ul Haq also got 1-1 success. In reply, Afghanistan achieved the target of 93 runs in 17.5 overs losing just 4 wickets. Mohammad Nabi scored an unbeaten 38 and hit a six to give his/her team a historic victory. The second match of the series will now be played on 26 March.
