New Delhi. The Afghan batsmen, who created history a few days ago, were defeated by the Zimbabwean bowlers on Thursday. Afghanistan, which had scored 699 runs in the first Test against Zimbabwe, also longed for 200 runs in the first innings of the second Test. Zimbabwe bowled out Afghanistan for 157 runs on the very first day of the second test. Afghanistan had scored 699 on 30 December.

The second test match between hosts Zimbabwe and Afghanistan is being played in Bulawayo. Thursday’s play on the first day of the match was largely affected by rain. Not a single over was played in the first session of the match and lunch break had to be taken. If Indra Dev rained in the first session, then Zimbabwe’s bowlers wreaked havoc in the second and third sessions. Thanks to its excellent bowling, the host team bowled out Afghanistan for 157 runs in 44.3 overs.

Afghanistan’s batsmen had scored two double centuries and one century in the first test match, but the top scorer in the second test was Rashid Khan who scored 25 runs. Rahmat Shah scored 19 runs, Afsar Zazai scored 16 runs and Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 13 runs. Let us tell you that in the first test, Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 246, Rahmat Shah scored 234 and Afsar Zazai scored 113 runs.

At one time Afghanistan had lost 6 wickets for 82 runs. Due to this, he/she was in danger of being limited to within 100 runs. Rashid Khan (25), who came at number eight, and Farid Ahmed (17), who came at number 11, took the team beyond 150 runs. The bowlers who defeated Afghanistan in the second test match were Sikandar Raza, Newman Nyamauri and Blessing Muzarabani. Sikandar Raza and Newman Nyamauri took 3 wickets each. Muzarabani took 2 wickets in his/her name.
