Advice to the Speaker, united opposition… victory was achieved on the Speaker but this time the government faces a big challenge

New Delhi: I have formed the opinion that the House does not function properly if there is no official Leader of Opposition. We are happy that the country has got a Leader of Opposition. This was said by an MP of the opposition alliance India while congratulating Om Birla on being elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. What was said while congratulating, hides the future of Parliament. It is not just about one MP. Leaders of all opposition parties including Congress, SP, TMC, Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) congratulated Om Birla on being elected Speaker and also tried to say their Mann Ki Baat. These leaders emphasized that they will also have to be heard. From the beginning of the session till now, the opposition has appeared completely united. From the swearing-in till now, the opposition is trying to tell that now it is not the same as before. This time the opposition has become much stronger than in the first two terms of PM Modi. This directly means that the challenge of the opposition is going to increase in the coming times.Which leader said what while congratulating the speaker

Rahul Gandhi: I would like to congratulate you on being elected Speaker for the second time. This House represents the voice of the people of India and you are the custodian of that voice. Undoubtedly, the government has the power of authority but the opposition also represents the voice of the people of India.

Akhilesh Yadav: Congratulated Om Birla and expressed hope that his/her ‘control’ will remain on the opposition as well as the ruling party and no action like expulsion will be taken. We believe that as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, you will give equal opportunity to every MP and every party.

Sudip Bandopadhyay:
Trinamool Congress MPs also congratulated Birla. he/she said, I have this impression that the House does not function properly if there is no official Leader of Opposition. We are happy that the country has got a Leader of Opposition. he/she told the Lok Sabha Speaker that your intentions may be good, but sometimes you have to bow down to the pressure of the ruling party.

Supriya Sule: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule said that she was very sad when 150 members were suspended. She said that now I request you not to take action of suspension. Talks can also be used to settle the matter.

The reality is that the government has the numbers but not the mandate. The opposition has the mandate. Therefore, smaller parties should be given a chance. I come from a community whose representation in this House is only 4 percent. They should be given a chance. This time the composition of the House has changed. The BJP will not be able to dominate now.

Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM MP

The opposition showed its strength on the first day of the 18th Lok Sabha
On the very first day of the 18th Lok Sabha, looking at the scene inside and outside the House, it was evident that the opposition was going to do something different. Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former president Rahul Gandhi and the parties included in the opposition alliance India reached the House with a copy of the Constitution and expressed solidarity. Before the proceedings began, the MPs of the opposition alliance gathered in the Parliament premises and also raised slogans against the government. They raised slogans of ‘We will protect the Constitution’ and ‘Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi’. Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of attacking the Constitution and said that this is not acceptable to him/her.

Now Rahul Gandhi will be in a new role
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday officially recognised former Congress President Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition in the House. This information has been given in the notification of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. It was decided in the meeting of opposition parties on Tuesday that Rahul Gandhi will be the Leader of Opposition. When this decision was taken, the Congress President said that a leader who has toured the entire country from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and from Manipur to Maharashtra will raise the voice of the people, especially the marginalised and the poor. Rahul Gandhi has been constantly attacking PM Modi. Now he/she will be in a new role. In such a situation, he/she will try his/her best to corner the government even within the House.
A glimpse was seen during the oath taking ceremony
This time, strange colors were seen during the oath taking ceremony. Most of the opposition MPs reached the Parliament with a copy of the Constitution. When they reached to take the oath, they were holding the copy of the Constitution in their hands. Rahul Gandhi reached to take the oath with a copy of the Constitution in his/her hand. he/she also showed it to the ruling party. Not only Rahul Gandhi, most of the opposition members were also seen doing the same. The slogans raised by the ruling party were also answered by the opposition with slogans. This is just the beginning of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, but from the glimpses seen, it is clear that this time the challenge before the government is big.
