Advance booking: Bad News earned crores before its release, but will it be as powerful as Good News?

Vicky Kaushal, Tripti Dimri and Amy Virk’s film ‘Bad News’ is going to release in theaters on Friday, July 19, 2024. Ever since the trailer of the film has come, it is in the news. While the songs of the film like ‘Tauba Tauba’ to ‘Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam’ are in everyone’s playlist, after ‘Animal’ everyone’s eyes are once again on Tripti Dimri. But will it be able to make a blast like ‘Good News’ at the box office? Let’s understand the whole math. According to the report of sacnilk, ‘Bad News’ has earned Rs 1.08 crore from advance booking before its release till Thursday morning. There is still a whole day left for the sale of tickets. While on-spot booking is also to be done on Friday after the release. It is true that these figures of advance booking are not very good. But this film, directed by Anand Tiwari, is of a genre and is expected to benefit from it after its release.

‘Bad News’ will earn money on the basis of word of mouth

The thing to understand is that at this time there are films like ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, ‘Kill’, ‘Sarfira’ and ‘Hindustani 2’ in the theatres. In such a situation, ‘Bad News’, which is coming with a tadka of comedy, can fly till the weekend on the basis of word of mouth. If people like the film, then it has the power to pull the family audience to the theatres.

‘Good News’ had earned Rs 316 crore worldwide

‘Bad News’ is in the same list as ‘Good News’, directed by Raj Mehta. This superhit film of Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh was released in 2019. That was the era before the Corona epidemic. Whereas after the lockdown, the box office math has completely changed. Still, if we compare, ‘Good News’ had a lifetime collection of Rs 205.09 crore in India and grossed Rs 316 crore worldwide. In such a situation, ‘Bad News’ will have to work hard.

How much will ‘Bad News’ earn on opening day?

‘Good News’ had a net collection of Rs 17.56 crore on the opening day. Given the changed situation after the pandemic, it would be meaningless to expect the same from ‘Bad News’. The good thing is that the pre-release trends of this film are similar to ‘Good News’, so if everything goes well, ‘Bad News’ will earn a lifetime gross of more than Rs 100 crore in India and more than Rs 150 crore worldwide. As far as the opening day is concerned, ‘Bad News’ can do a business of Rs 5-7 crore on the first day.
