Adani’s issue will echo in the winter session of Parliament, the opposition raised this demand before the government in the all-party meeting.

New Delhi: The echo of Adani issue will be heard once again in the Parliament session starting from 25th November. In the all-party meeting called today before the winter session, Congress demanded discussion on the allegations of bribery against Adani Group. Apart from this, the opposition party has also demanded discussion on Manipur issue, pollution in North India and railway accidents.

Adani issue will arise again

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari told reporters that his/her party has urged the government to allow discussion in Parliament on the bribery allegations against the Adani Group. he/she said that his/her party wants this issue to be raised first in the Parliament meeting on Monday. The Rajya Sabha member said this is a serious issue related to the economic and security interests of the country as the company has reportedly paid more than Rs 2,300 crore to politicians and bureaucrats to get favorable deals for its solar power projects. Let us tell you that US prosecutors have accused billionaire Gautam Adani of being part of a scheme to bribe Indian officials to the tune of US$265 million (about Rs 2,200 crore) to secure favorable solar power contracts. Is accused of. Tiwari said the Congress also wants to discuss issues like severe air pollution in North India, the situation in Manipur that is out of control and rail accidents. This meeting was called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Who was present in the all-party meeting?

Apart from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda, Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Gaurav Gogoi, T Shiva, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Anupriya Patel attended the meeting. The winter session will start from Monday and continue till December 20. 16 bills including the Waqf Amendment Bill have been listed for this session.

Many opposition leaders have said that they will raise the issue of allegations against Adani in Parliament and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has demanded an investigation into the allegations by a joint parliamentary committee. The meeting is also likely to discuss the program to be organized in the ‘Central Hall’ of the Constitution House (Old Parliament House) on November 26, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution.

Discussion on Waqf bill also possible
The pending bills also include the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which has been listed for consideration and passing after the joint committee of both the Houses submits its report in the Lok Sabha. The committee has been asked to submit its report on the last day of the first week of the winter session.

The opposition members of the committee are demanding extension of the deadline for submitting the report of the committee. he/she has alleged that committee chairperson and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagdambika Pal is disrupting the committee meetings and has sought the intervention of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

Presentation, discussion and voting on ‘First Batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants’ for the year 2024-25 has also been listed. The other bill listed by the government is the Punjab Courts (Amendment) Bill. Besides this, the Coastal Shipping Bill and the Indian Ports Bill have also been listed for introduction and passing. Eight bills, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill, are pending in the Lok Sabha and two more bills are pending in the Rajya Sabha.
