A petition was filed in the Gujarat High Court accusing the film of hurting religious sentiments, after which the release of ‘Maharaj’ was banned for a few days.

The ban on ‘Maharaj’ was lifted by the Gujarat High Court on Friday, June 21 and the makers immediately released it on OTT. The film was directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, while Yash Raj Entertainment produced it. The story of ‘Maharaj’ is the story of a court case of the year 1862, in which a religious guru was exposed. This film is based on the life of social reformer and journalist Karsandas Mulji. Jaideep Ahlawat was also seen in it. Junaid Khan played the character of Karsandas in the film. At the same time, Jaideep Ahlawat is in the role of Jadoonaath, also known as Maharaj.
