A special report on Indian students came amid ‘tension’ with Canada, know what is written in it

India-Canada tensions: Relations between India and Canada are going through ups and downs these days. The controversy that started over the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar escalated so much that both the countries recalled their diplomats. Canada accused India of Nijjar’s murder, which New Delhi rejected outright. At the same time, amidst the ongoing dispute between India and Canada, a report has come out, which is related to Indian students and important information has been given in it.
In fact, ‘Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development’ (OECD) has released a report with the title of ‘International Migration Outlook 2024’. It tells in which countries Indian students are going to study the most. One name in this is very shocking and that is from Canada. It has been said in the report that the largest number of international students going for higher education in countries like Britain, America and Canada are Indian students.

How many Indian students are studying in Canada?

The OECD report also gives information about the number of Indian students studying in Canada. It has been told that 40 percent of the international students studying in Canada are from India. More than 10 lakh foreign students are studying in different educational institutions in Canada, out of which about four lakh are Indian students. The Indian government had also revealed the exact number of Indian students studying in Canada this year. The government had said that 4,27,000 Indian students are studying in Canadian universities.

What is the condition of Indian students in other countries?

While Canada remains the top destination for Indian students to pursue higher education, America and Britain are also not far behind. About 25 percent of foreign students studying in America and Britain come from India. The trend of Indian students going to study in other countries has increased significantly since 2019. At present, more than 13 lakh Indian students are studying across the world. Due to good job opportunities after studies, a large number of Indians are going to study abroad.
