‘Bookings for the winter season are already open’

Regarding this, Rishikesh-based Camp India Holiday Resort founder Praveen Kumar says, ‘People who want to have destination weddings are liking camp weddings a lot. People are now giving more preference to getting married at beautiful locations. We are already getting bookings for winter season weddings. Our month of December is completely packed.’

‘Social media made camp wedding popular’

Ankit Gupta, founder of Rishikesh-based Camp Brook, says, “Social media has made the trend of camp weddings quite popular. Where earlier we used to get one call for marriage in a week or month, today two clients call us every day for marriage.”

‘This is also an advantage for the campers as in summers, the camps in hilly areas used to be full of tourists, but in winters the work used to reduce. But because of this new trend of destination weddings, the campers are now getting a lot of work even in winters.’

The marriage takes place in 2 nights and 3 days

Now you must be wondering how a wedding can be planned at a camping site. Actually, the same concept of destination wedding is used in camp weddings as well. Praveen Kumar (India Holiday Resort) says,

‘Usually people take a package for 2 nights and 3 days. In this, the haldi ceremony is held after lunch on the first day. Then the mehndi and sangeet program is held at night. The next day, after breakfast in the morning, the wedding ceremony is held in the afternoon. Then check out is done the next day.’

he/she also says that ‘many such videos went viral on social media in which people were seen getting married in the camp. After this, people started liking this trend. Many people are calling us for marriage in the winter season.

‘Not all features are available right now’

Ankit Gupta says, ‘Camp wedding is a new concept and currently not many camps are ready to organize events like weddings. They do not have such basic facilities. Today, camps are being made very modern for weddings.

Camp-like AC rooms, space for decoration of haldi and mandap are being made in them. While some people are taking 3 nights 2 days package for the wedding, some people are taking 4 nights package and arranging various adventure activities for the guests during the wedding.

Why are people liking destination weddings

A big reason behind having a destination wedding is that the view and scenery of the place where the wedding is taking place should be beautiful. For example, when it comes to the venues of Rajasthan, people like the royal look and the concept of having a royal wedding. Talking about Goa, weddings are mostly held in beach resorts here.

Similarly, camps are also built in hilly areas and some river or the other is seen flowing near many camps. Everyone wants to have their wedding amidst this natural beauty. This is the reason why camp weddings are being liked so much in destination weddings.
