Former Team India batsman Suresh Raina has called the appointment of Shubman Gill as the vice-captain of Team India as the right decision. he/she praised this player a lot and compared him/her with former captain Virat Kohli.

New Delhi. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is starting from 19 February. This will be the first time that Pakistan will host this tournament. India had refused to play in Pakistan, hence all the matches of the team will be played in Dubai. India’s team for the ICC Champions Trophy has been announced. The team will be captained by Rohit Sharma while the selectors have made Shubman Gill the vice-captain. Former batsman Suresh Raina has called this decision right.

There is a continuous reaction on social media on the appointment of Shubman Gill as vice-captain. Some are calling this decision right while some are saying that Hardik Pandya should be the vice-captain. Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has also given his/her opinion on making Shubman Gill the vice-captain. he/she believes that India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma knows that Shubman Gill will be his/her successor in this format. Suresh also believes that Gill is a lot like Virat Kohli.

While talking on Star Sports, Raina said, “I think Shubman Gill is the next superstar of India. he/she has performed well for India in the ODI format. When you give a young player such a good opportunity, like making him/her vice-captain in the ICC Champions Trophy, it speaks volumes about his/her ability. The way he/she led Gujarat in IPL has been brilliant. The kind of performance he/she has shown in the last 12-16 months justifies this decision. Rohit has seen how Gill captains, just like Virat Kohli does.
