A full proof action plan is being prepared for the safety of doctors, responsibility is divided among four sub-groups of the task force

New Delhi: Four sub-groups of the National Task Force formed for the safety of doctors have been given the responsibility of preparing a foolproof action plan. The Union Health Ministry has given different responsibilities to all the sub-groups and well-known experts have been included in the sub-groups. Union Health Secretary Apoorva Chandra has held a high-level meeting with the convener and member secretary of the four sub-groups and has asked them to hold talks with medical associations, doctor associations and concerned parties across the country. Based on the action plan of the sub-groups, the task force will prepare its final report.

What will these four sub-groups do?
While one sub-group will report on finding out the shortcomings of infrastructure in medical institutions and measures for improvement, the second sub-group will review the security system in the institutions. The suggestions of doctors will be very important regarding what improvements can be made in the existing system. Apart from this, the working conditions of health care professionals will be decided afresh, which doctors have been demanding for a long time. Doctors work 24 hours a day and many junior doctors remain on duty for even longer. At the same time, they do not even get the necessary facilities during duty, it will be the responsibility of every institution to implement the measures for improvement prepared on this issue. Apart from this, the fourth sub-group will find ways to strengthen the legal framework for medical institutions of all states. If any doctor or medical staff is mistreated, then the purpose will be to ensure that action is taken against the accused as soon as possible as per the existing law.

Terms of reference fixed for each group
Health Ministry Secretary Apoorva Chandra says that terms of reference have been fixed for all sub-groups and the ministry is trying to study every suggestion and bring it within the scope of the action plan. Many of the suggestions coming on the national portal so far are important. According to the information, suggestions like deploying trained security personnel, improving duty conditions, hostels near the campus, safety committee are important in the terms of reference. Instructions like increasing security staff in hospitals, regular security patrolling, security staff training, maximum CCTV camera coverage, making visitor pass compulsory have already been given.
