A cricketer who was shot dead, the miscreants fired the bullet in front of his/her family.


New Delhi. Former Sri Lanka Under-19 captain Dhammika Niroshan was shot dead in July this year. The miscreants had killed him/her in front of his/her family. he/she lived with his/her family in Ambalangoda town of Dhammika Gaol. Niroshan was shot by an unknown person near his/her house. he/she started his/her career at this place. Sri Lankan Police had said that it was carried out by an underworld gang.

When Dhammika Niroshan was shot, his/her family was with him/her. It remained his/her dream to play for the national team. Dhammika Niroshan could not make it to the Sri Lankan national team. Niroshan used to play as a bowler. his/her bowling average in first class cricket was around 30. he/she did his/her studies from Devananda College.

Dhammika Niroshan played a total of 12 first class matches for Galle Cricket Club between 2001 and 2004. Apart from this, he/she also participated in 8 List A matches. Niroshan had taken a total of 24 wickets in his/her career. In the year 2000, Dhammika Niroshan made her debut in the Under 19 team. he/she commanded the team for 2 years. he/she played his/her last match in 2004.

Dhammika Niroshan made his/her debut for Sri Lanka’s Under-19 team against Singapore in 2000. he/she continued playing Under-19 Test and ODI cricket for two years. After this he/she also appeared in domestic Sri Lankan cricket for Chilaw Marians Cricket Club and Galle Cricket Club.
