Today’s weather and AQI 21 December 2024: The entire North India including Delhi is shivering due to cold and cold wave. The mercury falling in the hilly states has increased melting in many states of North India. Along with the cold wave, pollution has also reached critical levels in Delhi. There has been a decrease in day and night mercury in UP-Bihar and Rajasthan also. Fog in the morning and cold wave lasting throughout the day are troubling people. How will the weather be in Delhi today?

There is a possibility of dense fog in the capital Delhi on Saturday and Sunday. However, it is a matter of relief that light rain may occur soon after Christmas. After this the cold will increase further in Delhi. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate to dense fog and smog on Saturday morning. Today the maximum temperature is expected to be 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 8 degrees Celsius.

There is a possibility of fog on 22nd December also. The maximum temperature on this day can be 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be 7 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of light to moderate fog between 23 and 26 December. These days the maximum temperature can be 22 to 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be 8 to 9 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky and light rain on 26th December. According to Skymet, a western disturbance will be active in the western Himalayas on December 26. Due to this, there may be snowfall in the mountains between 27th and 29th December. In such a situation, the cold may increase significantly in the capital Delhi on New Year’s Eve.

What is the condition of Punjab-Haryana?

Cold is also at its peak in Haryana and Punjab near Delhi. Talking about Haryana, there is no possibility of fog or cold wave today. The weather will be clear today. However, there may be dense fog tomorrow i.e. from 22nd December to 24th December. Talking about Punjab, today cold wave can cause trouble in many areas. Apart from today, this situation is going to last till 24th December. At both the places the minimum temperature will drop by 4 degrees. Even in Chandigarh, the minimum temperature can fall down to 5 degrees.

How will the weather be in the hilly states?

Let’s talk about Jammu and Kashmir. There is a cold wave alert in Jammu and Kashmir today. Yellow alert of cold wave has been issued here till 26th December. In areas like Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Kupwara, Srinagar, the minimum temperature today may remain between -4 to -6 degrees. Talking about Uttarakhand, yellow alert has been issued for frost in most parts. According to the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of drop in temperature due to frost in districts like Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Along with frost, there is also a possibility of snowfall in the mountainous areas. Talking about Himachal Pradesh, today along with the orange alert of cold wave, dense fog can also be seen at many places. In such a situation, significant impact of cold will be seen in other places including hilly areas.

Know the weather of these states including UP-Rajasthan

Talking about Uttar Pradesh, no major change is expected in the weather in Uttar Pradesh in the next few days. However, according to the Meteorological Department, there may be a slight change in the weather from December 26. During this period, there is a possibility of rain in many parts of the state. Talking about the weather of Rajasthan, there may be rain in Rajasthan next week due to the effect of a western disturbance amid the harsh winter. According to the Meteorological Department, winter and cold wave will continue in the state. There is a possibility of light moderate rain with thunder in some parts of South Eastern Rajasthan on 25th December, while in Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions on 26th and 27th December.

Talking about Madhya Pradesh, the period of severe cold has ended in most parts of Madhya Pradesh. The main reason for this change is the four weather systems formed in different parts of the country. Due to the influence of these systems, the wind direction has become eastern and south-eastern, due to which the night temperature has increased in the state. Talking about Bihar, according to Patna Meteorological Centre, there will be no major change in the weather in the next five days in the state of Bihar. The temperature will remain almost constant in all the districts of the state. The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 24 to 28 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature can remain between 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.
