New Delhi. A major controversy kept happening during the third test between India and Australia. Something similar to what happened between Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds in 2008, which is called ‘Monkeygate’. Then, due to Monkeygate, the Indian team started preparing to return from Australia leaving the series incomplete. In the third test of the current series, English commentator Isha Guha called Jasprit Bumrah a ‘primate’. However, a day later Isha Guha apologized for her racial remarks.

Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets on Sunday on the second day of the third Test against Australia. Australian legend Brett Lee praised it highly. In response, England’s Isha Guha praised Bumrah and called him/her a ‘primate’ (human-like animal). While commentating for Fox Cricket, Isha had said, ‘Okay, he/she is the MVP (Most Valuable Player). Isn’t it? Most Valuable Primate, Jasprit Bumrah. he/she is the one who is bringing success to India and hence in the preparation for the Test match, there was so much focus on him/her to see whether he/she would be fit.

Former cricketer Isha Guha’s use of the word ‘primate’ created a storm on social media. he/she started being criticized, which forced the former England pacer to apologize. Isha said during the commentary at the beginning of the game on Monday, ‘Yesterday I used a word which can be interpreted in different ways. I would like to apologize for causing any hurt. Isha of Indian origin has been in the broadcasting team of Fox Sports for many years.

Isha Guha said, ‘I have set very high standards for myself when it comes to empathy and respect for others. If you listen to the whole thing, I meant to praise one of the greatest players of India the most. A player whom I admire a lot. I was trying to convey the enormity of his/her achievement and I chose the wrong word. I am very sorry for this’

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who was sitting next to Isha Guha when she apologized, praised her for speaking live on the issue. Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was also present there. Shastri said, ‘Brave woman, it takes courage to apologize on live TV. You heard it from his/her own mouth, so as far as I am concerned, this matter is closed. he/she said, ‘People make mistakes. We are all human beings. Sometimes when you have a mic in your hand, some things can happen. Let us move ahead.
