Fact Check: In Nepal, 7 minor children molested the cleric of Madrasa? The claim turned out to be false during investigation


New Delhi: The web of false news and fake claims is spreading very fast on social media. These claims are presented in such a way that at first glance they appear absolutely genuine. Whereas, these have nothing to do with reality. In a similar post on social media, it is being claimed that seven minor children got drunk and raped a Maulvi inside a Madrasa in Nepal. However, during investigation by the alert team, this claim turned out to be false.

What is this viral post?

A user named Jitendra Pratap Singh on Committed a misdeed. The Maulvi has been admitted to the hospital in a bleeding state. See the social media post-

Along with his/her post, this user has also put a screen shot of the news. Many people have commented on this post. A user named MVS has written, ‘Damn. Such incidents raise a big question mark on the role of Madrassas in education. Also, this post has been reposted by 32 people.

This post has also been shared on X with the handles ‘Exsecular (Modi’s family)’, ‘Former MLA Professor Dr. Biru Singh Rathore’ and ‘Arun Yadav’. What is the truth of this post?

To know the authenticity of this post, first of all we investigated the screen shot of the news attached with it through AI image detector ‘True Media’. Here four out of five tools described this picture as made by AI. Also, through Universal Fake Detector Analysis, it was found that there is a 93 percent chance of this photo being tampered. The investigation so far has proved that the screenshot attached with the post is AI generated. In this screenshot, the name of BBC journalist Situ Tiwari is written as the byline. We contacted Situ Tiwari to verify the news and he/she told that this news is not his/her. This is a fake picture.

The screenshot of the news of Nepal’s Madarsa being shared on social media and the claim being made along with it is fake. No such incident has happened in Nepal. During investigation by the alert team, this claim was found to be false.
