Typically, we see five to six days of cold wave during December to February. This year, we can expect two to four fewer cold wave days than average.

Night temperature started rising in Kashmir

People got relief from cold due to increase in minimum temperature in most parts of Kashmir on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has predicted mainly dry weather in the coming days in Kashmir Valley. Officials said that except Srinagar and Gulmarg, nights remained warmer than before due to improvement in minimum temperatures in most other areas.

The temperature in Gulmarg reached 2.4 degrees below zero.

Officials said the night temperature remained above the freezing point in Srinagar, Qazigund and Kupwara. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius, up from minus 0.8 degrees Celsius the previous night. The temperature in famous ski resort Gulmarg was minus 2.4 degrees Celsius while Kupwara recorded 1.8 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the temperature in Kokarnag was minus 0.2 degree Celsius.

The weather department has predicted generally dry weather on Wednesday with light rain or snowfall at some higher places. According to IMD, dry conditions will persist till December 4-7. However, there is a possibility of light rain or snow in the higher reaches from late night of December 8 to the morning of December 9.

Due to the impact of cyclone ‘Fangal’, there are chances of rain in Bengaluru and different parts of Karnataka on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclone ‘Fangal’ has now weakened. It rained in Bengaluru on Sunday evening. Officials say there are chances of light to moderate rain in coastal Karnataka and parts of South Interior Karnataka on Wednesday. However, gradually it may also weaken.
