CBSE News: After Maths, now two level plan in Science and Social Science also, big news for CBSE students!

Two levels in CBSE 9th 10th class scheme: Big news is coming for the students of Central Board of Secondary Education. cbse board Can bring two levels in two more subjects. Just as at present Maths Basic and Maths Standard are offered at two levels in CBSE 10th class, similarly a plan is being worked on to provide two options for Science and Social Science. According to the latest report, CBSE is just one step away from implementing it. Two levels (Basic and Standard) in Science and Social Science in CBSE Classes 9 and 10 can be implemented from the academic session 2026-27. According to IE report, this decision has been taken in the CBSE Curriculum Committee meeting held a few days ago. However, final approval is yet to be received from the top governing authority of the board.

Separate exam or separate study material?

When students will get the option of two levels in both these subjects, then their examination will be conducted separately or the study material will be different for basic and advanced, no decision has been taken at this time. It is being said that CBSE is waiting for new books from NCERT. Those books which are being updated on the basis of National Curriculum Framework (NCF). New NCERT books for many classes may come as early as 2025.

At the same time, sources say that the CBSE Board is taking this decision inspired by the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). NEP 2020 states that ‘two levels should be offered in all subjects and related assessments. So that students can choose some subjects at basic level and some at standard level according to their interest. This will reduce the extra burden of studies on children and the coaching culture can be reduced.

Maths basic and standard question papers are separate

At present, CBSE schools offer the option of Maths Basic and Standard in class 10. Although the syllabus for these is the same, but the question papers are set differently. Students who choose Basic are given slightly less complex questions than Standard. The board had implemented this system in the academic session 2019-20 itself.
