New Delhi. India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir is ready to join the team in Australia before the second Test to be held at Adelaide Oval. After the Indian team’s big victory in the first match of the series in Perth, he/she returned home due to ‘personal reasons’. Gambhir was not with the Indian team during the two-day practice match against the Prime Minister’s Playing XI at Manuka Oval. But now he/she is ready to join the team.

Gautam Gambhir will join the team on this Tuesday (3 December). The second test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy will start from Friday. This day-night test will be played with pink ball. Captain Rohit Sharma could not play in the first match of the five-match series due to the birth of his/her second child and his/her return has given further strength to the Indian team. Now finalizing the playing XI will be Gambhir’s first priority.

In Gambhir’s absence, his/her three trusted teammates Abhishek Nair, Ryan ten Deutsche and Morne Morkel took care of the team’s training and preparations for the practice matches. India won the practice match by six wickets. In Rohit’s absence, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah led India in the Perth Test. Now after the arrival of Rohit and Shubman Gill’s brilliant half-century in the practice match against the Prime Minister’s Playing XI, it will be difficult for Gambhir to select the playing XI.
