Case of spying on Indian diplomats raised in Rajya Sabha, Center expressed opposition to Canada, know what he/she said

New Delhi: A case of surveillance of Indian diplomats has come to light in Canada. The Government of India has expressed strong opposition to this. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Rajya Sabha that audio and video surveillance of Indian Consulate officials in Canada is being done. his/her personal communications are also being intercepted. This incident is of November 2024. India has sent a note verbale in this regard to the High Commission of Canada. India says this is a violation of diplomatic provisions.

Canadian government harassing Indian diplomats

The Canadian government is harassing and threatening Indian diplomats. The Canadian government has tried to defend itself by giving technical reasons, but the Indian government is not accepting it. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also given his/her reaction on this matter.

he/she said the Canadian government cannot justify the fact that it is engaging in harassment and intimidation by citing technical reasons. Indian diplomats are already working in an environment of extremism and violence. In such a situation, this action of the Canadian government is even more condemnable.

There may be tension in the relations between the two countries

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a reply in the Rajya Sabha, also said that respect for each other’s concerns, territorial integrity and sovereignty is essential for stable bilateral relations. This action of the Canadian government may create tension in the relations between the two countries. Let us inform that recently, the consular officers of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver were informed by the Canadian authorities that their audio and video surveillance is being done and their personal communications have also been intercepted.
