Distance/neighborhood criteria is at the top in the 100 point formula of schools. However, to confirm the seat, criteria like alumni and sibling points will play a big role in getting admission.

Schools will give marks to children according to 100 point system and admission list will be prepared based on this. In the criteria of 100 points, most of the schools have distributed their points in Neighbourhood/Distance, Sibling, Alumni, Single Child, Girl Child, First Born Child. Schools say that parents should choose a nearby school only. This is true for the child also. But to secure a seat, points like sibling i.e. if the child’s brother or sister studies in the same school, alumni i.e. if a parent has studied in the same school are very important.

Especially in about 450 schools built on government land, the demand for which is very high. Till now, most of the schools have fixed 10 to 20 points separately for sibling and alumni and many have also fixed 10 to 20 points for girl child and single child.
