IPL 2025: ‘Thank you for choosing me..’ Star cricketer said after the auction, will he/she replace Shreyas Iyer as captain?

New Delhi. All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, happy to be bought by his/her old franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 23.75 crore in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL), all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer on Sunday (November 25) said that he/she Would gladly accept the challenge of captaincy for the team.

The Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise decided not to retain their 2024 IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer in the mega auction and spent a huge amount to include Venkatesh in the squad. After being bought by KKR for a huge amount, Venkatesh said, “I got the opportunity to captain the team in the absence of Nitish Rana, when he/she was injured, I was the vice-captain of the team. I have always believed that captaincy is just a position. Team leadership is about creating an environment where everyone feels they can play and contribute to this team. If given the responsibility, I will be very happy to take it.

he/she said, “Our aim will be to together defend the championship and continue our winning campaign. Thank you very much for choosing me in your team.” Venkatesh has played nine T20 Internationals and two ODI matches for India. he/she became the third most expensive buy in the IPL mega auction after Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants, Rs 27 crore) and Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings, Rs 26.75 crore).
