Movies become hits and flops not only on content but also on budget. Are there really benefits of investing crores of rupees?

Many statistics are being published about films but there can be many reasons behind a film being a hit or flop. In this article we are emphasizing on what can happen behind a film which has an impact on it.

highlights

  • Movies become hits and flops not only on content but also on budget. Are there really benefits of investing crores of rupees?
  • ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ have about three weeks time before the release of ‘Pushpa 2’.
  • Along with its content, its budget also plays a big role in whether any film becomes a hit or a flop.

Both the films ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ released on Diwali weekend performed strongly. After the first two weeks of release, the collection of both the films is close to Rs 250 crore. This week both these films are going to face tough competition from Tamil superstar Suriya’s ambitious film ‘Kanguva’. According to the experts of the film world, ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ have about three weeks time before the release of ‘Pushpa 2’ next month. In such a situation, both these films will try their best to enter the Rs 300 crore club. However, despite earning almost equal amount at the box office, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is being called a superhit. Whereas Singham Again has not even reached the hit category yet. The reason for this is the huge difference in the budget of both the films. The budget of Ajay Devgan’s multi-starrer film Singham Again is said to be around Rs 375 crore. Whereas the budget of Kartik Aryan’s film Bhoolbhulaiyaa 3 is said to be around Rs 150 crore. This is the reason why due to its huge budget, the film Singham Again has not been able to recover its cost even after earning around Rs 250 crores. Whereas Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is moving towards earning almost double its cost. That’s why it has already got the status of superhit.

Problem of budget along with content

According to experts, along with its content, its budget also plays a big role in whether a film becomes a hit or a flop. If the audience is liking a film and its budget is also low, then the chances of it becoming a hit increase. But if the budget of the film is high, then it needs to earn a lot to become a hit. For example, Bhool Bhulaiyaa reached the hit category as soon as it reached the Rs 200 crore club. To become a hit, Singham Again will have to enter at least the Rs 400 crore club, which looks very difficult considering the current circumstances. At present, it does not seem easy for both the films Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to enter the Rs 300 crore club.

What do southern makers do?

Experts from the film world say that in this matter, South producers are much wiser than Bollywood producers. They make films with strong content on a tight budget. When the film is liked by the audience, it becomes a superhit. For example, the budget of the superhit film Hanuman, released earlier this year, was only Rs 40 crores. But due to the love received from the audience, the film earned more than Rs 250 crore. Whereas the budget of the film Kantara, released in the year 2022, was Rs 16 crore, the film earned more than Rs 300 crore.
