New Delhi : After the agreement on the border dispute between India and China, things are moving in the right direction. Changes are visible after PM Modi’s meeting with the Chinese President in Kazan, Russia. Foreign Minister Jaishankar had met his/her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Brazil on the sidelines of G-20. Now Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met his/her Chinese counterpart. The one thing that is common in these meetings is China’s changed tone. The fear of Trump’s victory in the US elections is clearly visible on China.

China should learn a lesson from ‘unfortunate border conflicts’

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called for lessons to be learned from the ‘unfortunate border conflicts’ of 2020 during talks with his/her Chinese counterpart Dong Jun. Rajnath Singh said that he/she had a very useful meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun. We agreed to work together towards a roadmap to rebuild mutual trust and understanding.

India and China agreed to work towards a roadmap for restoration of mutual trust and understanding. The defense ministers of the two countries met in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. This meeting has come at a time when Indian and Chinese armies have completed the withdrawal of troops from the two last confrontation sites in eastern Ladakh just a few weeks ago.

Move forward with faith and understanding

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that both sides agreed to work together towards a roadmap for restoration of mutual trust and understanding. It said that in the delegation-level talks, Singh emphasized that cordial relations between India and China will have a positive impact on global peace and prosperity. The ministry said that considering that both the countries are and will remain neighbours, he/she said that we need to focus on cooperation rather than conflict.

Patrolling started on LAC

Singh and Dong met on the sidelines of a summit of the 10-nation ASEAN grouping and some of its dialogue partners. Indian and Chinese armies had completed the withdrawal of troops from Demchok and Depsang in eastern Ladakh late last month. Earlier, after several talks, an agreement was reached between the two sides to resolve the border dispute. Both sides also started patrolling in both the areas after a gap of about four and a half years.
