While making the schedule, keep in mind that the hours for studying and attending classes as well as for work are properly distributed. Set reminders for important deadlines and shifts.

(2.) Achievable goals

While doing a part-time job, goals should be set which can be achieved. If you make such goals, you will remain motivated along with your work. Your goals should be financial, skill based or career oriented. Before doing a part-time job, decide how much money you have to earn every month so that your expenses are covered. Identify the skills you need to acquire while working part-time.

(3.) Job with flexibility

Students should look for part-time jobs in which they can get flexibility. They should do such jobs in which their classes are not interrupted and they can also do the job. Students should generally work in part-time jobs, either in the evenings or on weekends. In this way the job can be done without disrupting the class. It is better if students look for remote or freelance jobs.

(4.) Finding an on-campus job

In many universities around the world, students get the opportunity to work part-time within the campus. The jobs available within the campus are more flexible and students are able to study comfortably along with their job. Students will get information about such jobs through the University Career Center or Student Employment Office. Students can take part-time jobs within campus in positions such as library assistant, research assistant, or campus tour guide.

(5.) Maintain good communication with the employer

To balance studies along with job, one should always be honest with the employer. Whenever you look for a job, tell your employer that you do not want to interrupt your studies. Even before getting the job, let him/her know what time you will not be able to come to the job. For example, it will not be possible for you to work during exams or assignments, please inform the employer about this. By doing this the employer can give you a job in flexible shift.
