Sri Lanka made 5 changes but the match was not completed, won the series from New Zealand

New Delhi. The New Zealand team, which defeated the Indian team in the Test series, has suffered a shameful defeat in the ODI series on the tour of Sri Lanka. After losing the first two matches, the team that came to play in the third match did not get a chance to save its honour. Rain on Tuesday spoiled New Zealand’s plans to register a consolation win in the last match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka won its fifth ODI series this year at home by winning both the rain-interrupted opening matches. New Zealand made a great start in this match and scored 112 runs for one wicket in 21 overs. After this rain disrupted the game and the match could not be restarted. When the game was stopped, Will Young was at the crease after scoring 56 runs while Henry Nicholls was playing after scoring 46 runs. Both the batsmen had laid the foundation of a big score with a partnership of 88 runs in 106 balls.

Sri Lanka had entered with 5 changes

Sri Lanka had made 5 changes in the playing eleven for the third ODI but due to rain the team did not get a chance to test its bench strength (alternate players). It was decided to leave out Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Dunith Vellalej and Asitha Fernando in the last ODI. Batsmen Nishan Madushanka and Nuwanidu Fernando, fast bowlers Dilshan Madushanka and Mohammed Shiraz were included in the playing eleven against New Zealand.

Sri Lanka won the series

Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series 2-0. In the first match, Sri Lanka had scored 324 runs. The hosts won by 45 runs in the rain-interrupted match. In the second match, the New Zealand team was bundled out for 209 runs and after losing 7 wickets, Sri Lanka achieved the target of victory and took an unassailable lead in the series.
