US takes immigration issue ‘incredibly seriously’: State Department amid visa delays




The United States assured that it takes immigration issues “incredibly seriously” and is working to improve procedures.

Addressing a US State Department briefing on Thursday, Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedanta Patel addressed immigration concerns and acknowledged the importance of the issue, especially for Indian Americans awaiting immigrant visas.

“On the topic of immigration, certainly fully recognize how important it is for so many people around the world, whether it’s visitor visas, whether it’s formal legal immigration channels. “This is something we take incredibly seriously, and certainly, as it relates to the State Department’s authority on this, we will continue to work and find ways we can improve the processes,” Patel said.

“Just a few weeks ago, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo talked about ways they have been able to streamline processes for tourist visa processing. We understand how important this is to the US economy, and we look forward to continuing to build on that,” he/she said.

Praising India-US relations, Patel affirmed, “India remains a vitally important partner in the Indo-Pacific region when it comes to global regional stability. And we are very grateful to be able to deepen that cooperation throughout President Biden’s four years in office. ,
