Former selector’s statement came amid Shami’s return, said – will have to be shown…


New Delhi. Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami is playing competitive cricket after a year. Shami is currently playing a match for Bengal against Madhya Pradesh in Ranji Trophy. Former Team India selector Sanj Jagdale has said a big thing regarding his/her return. Jagdale says that Shami will have to show strength in first-class matches to gain fitness and form. Right-arm fast bowler Shami was away from competitive cricket for 360 days due to an ankle injury. he/she is playing domestic cricket to gain fitness and rhythm.

Mohammed Shami had an ankle injury, staying away from competitive cricket since the final of the World Cup 2023 on November 19 last year. For which he/she had to undergo operation. he/she made a comeback to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy match between Madhya Pradesh and Bengal at the Holkar Stadium in Indore that started on Wednesday. Sanjay Jagdale told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ during this match in the stadium, ‘Shami has been an amazing bowler. India has definitely missed his/her bowling in the last one year.

‘Shami’s absence can also prove to be an opportunity for a young bowler’
The former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, ‘We should hope that Shami will soon reach the peak of his/her performance. But to regain fitness and form, he/she will still have to play first-class matches. When asked whether the Indian team will miss Shami in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy competition, Jagdale said, ‘No bowler with the qualities of experienced Shami can come forward immediately, but his/her absence in this match will be an opportunity for a young bowler. Can also prove to be a good thing, taking advantage of which he/she can establish himself in the Indian team.

‘India is in great need of a good fast bowler’
Meanwhile, many young fans of Mohammed Shami reached Holkar Stadium to witness the return of their favorite bowler to the field. One such fan, Rehan Patel, said, ‘India is in great need of a good fast bowler. We are hoping that Shami will make his/her way back into the Indian team by performing well in the Ranji Trophy match.
