New Delhi : Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has shared his/her views on Donald Trump’s victory as a result of the 2024 US presidential election. Citing expectations based on Trump’s previous presidential tenure, Tharoor said that given Trump’s “transactional” style and past diplomatic relations, the reality is that we already have four years of Mr Trump as President. Have experience, so there shouldn’t be too many surprises.

Tharoor, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Minister of State for External Affairs, also expressed concern over immigration and trade in view of Trump coming to power. Tharoor said that I do not think that President Trump has expressed any special view on the situation in Canada. “Certainly, I would be surprised if they have that kind of concern,” he/she said. Tharoor said we are concerned about Canada’s relationship and perhaps we can talk to the new Trump administration about how we can move across the border. Why are you unhappy with these Khalistanis? “I don’t think Trump would take much personal interest in that particular issue,” he/she said. We will have to see. These are all speculations.
