ICC Rankings: Rishabh Pant’s big leap, may face competition from Yashasvi Jaiswal in December


New Delhi. Rishabh Pant has made a huge jump in the ICC rankings. The Indian wicketkeeper batsman had scored half-centuries in both the innings against New Zealand in Mumbai last week. he/she got the benefit of this performance in ICC Test. Rishabh Pant has jumped five places to sixth place in the batsmen’s rankings.

Rishabh Pant played two half-century innings during the Mumbai Test. However, despite this, India had to face defeat in the third test. With this, India lost a Test series at home for the first time by 0-3. However, two consecutive fifties helped Rishabh Pant in the ranking, which is an indication that he/she has returned to his/her best form. Now Rishabh Pant is just one step behind his/her career-best fifth position in the rankings achieved in July 2022.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is also present in the top-10 in this ranking of Test format. However, they have slipped one place to fourth place. There can also be a competition between Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ICC rankings in the month of December. India will play a test series against Australia from 22nd November. Its effect will be visible in the rankings to be released in December.

New Zealand whitewashed the series with a close 25-run win in Mumbai. Due to this, the position of their batsmen in the top 10 tests has also improved. Daryl Mitchell has jumped eight places to seventh place. he/she played an inning of 82 runs in the first innings against India in the Mumbai Test. This left him/her joining teammate Kane Williamson (second place) as New Zealand’s only player in the top-10.

England’s Joe Root has maintained his/her lead at the top. he/she is at number one in this list of rankings. Kane in which Williamson is second, Harry Brook is third, Jaiswal is fourth and Steve Smith is fifth. India’s Shubhman Gill played an inning of 90 runs in the first innings against New Zealand in Mumbai. With this, he/she has reached 16th position with a gain of four places.

Ravindra Jadeja has moved up two places to sixth place in the Test bowling rankings after taking 10 wickets against New Zealand. India’s Jasprit Bumrah is first in this list and Ravichandran Ashwin is second. Josh Hazlewood of Australia is at third place, and Kagiso Rabada of South Africa and Pat Cummins of Australia are jointly at fourth place. Washington Sundar has jumped 7 places to 46th position among test bowlers. New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel has moved up to 22nd position with a gain of 12 places and Ish Sodhi has moved up to 70th position with a jump of three places.
