Indian legend announced his/her retirement just hours after the defeat against New Zealand


New Delhi. Wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who has been out of the Indian cricket team for a long time, has decided to say goodbye to every format of cricket. In a post on social media, Saha announced that the recent Ranji Trophy season will be his/her last season. he/she played his/her last Test match in Mumbai in December 2021.

Saha, who turned 40 last month, has played 40 Tests and 9 ODI matches for India. After the retirement of MS Dhoni, Saha remained India’s first choice wicketkeeper-batsman for a long time. Saha is second in the list of Indian wicketkeepers who have scored the most centuries in Test cricket. Dhoni and Pant are jointly in first place. Saha, considered one of the best wicketkeepers in world cricket, scored 1353 Test runs in his/her career and scored three centuries.

Saha played his/her last Test against New Zealand three years ago in December 2021. he/she scored 27 runs in the first innings and 13 runs in the second innings. The then head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma showed him/her the way out and chose KS Bharat as the backup to Rishabh Pant.

Saha posted on social media and wrote, “After a memorable journey in cricket, this season will be my last. It is an honor for me to play for the last time in Ranji Trophy representing Bengal. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey, your support means a lot to me. Let’s make this season memorable…”
