JEE Main 2025, jeemain.nta.nic.in: From National Testing Agency (NTA) jee main New guidelines have been issued regarding 2025. Meanwhile, the score tie-breaking rules have been changed. That is, now if two students have equal marks, then the rules on how the better rank will be decided between them have been changed. From this year, age has been removed from the tie-breaking calculation. It is noteworthy that NTA has released the guidelines for JEE Main 2025 on Monday night (October 28). Along with this, NTA also started the registration process for JEE Main on October 28, which will end on November 22. Know here about the new tiebreaking rule.

Rule of rank in case of equal score in JEE Main:

The rank was determined by resolving the tie between candidates obtaining the same aggregate score in JEE Main paper as described here:

  1. high score in math
  2. After that, the score in physics,
  3. After that, the score in Chemistry,
  4. After that, the candidate with lower ratio of number of wrong answers to number of correct answers in all the subjects in the examination
  5. After that, the candidate will have less ratio of number of wrong answers to number of correct answers in Mathematics in the exam.
  6. After that, the candidate will have less ratio of number of wrong answers to number of correct answers in Physics in the exam.
  7. After that, candidates will have less ratio of number of wrong answers to number of correct answers in Chemistry in the exam.
  8. After that, the candidate older in age
  9. After that, the application number in ascending order.

What is the new change?

Now the criteria till the seventh stage will remain the same, the criteria of ‘older in age’ and ‘application number in ascending order’ have been removed. As per the revised guidelines, if there is a tie even till the seventh criterion then the candidates will be given the same rank.

Changes in JEE official website domain:

Another change this year is the website domain. Last year, NTA had shifted from the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – to a new JEE Main website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, the agency has once again shifted to the old JEE website – jeemain.nta.nic.in – this year.

Extra time for disabled students:

Another change that has been implemented this time is the revised guidelines for candidates classified as Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD) for the JEE Main 2025 exam. Disabled candidates will be given 20 minutes extra time per hour.
