IPL 2025: Mayank Yadav will be retained, but captain’s leave fixed! KL Rahul this time… Puran can get the most money

New Delhi. There is no good news from IPL for KL Rahul, who lost his/her place in the Indian playing eleven in the Pune Test. Lucknow Super Giants are unlikely to retain KL Rahul, who has been captaining them for three seasons, this time. For IPL 2025, all the franchises have to submit the list of retained players by 31st October. Storm bowler Mayank Yadav and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran are likely to be included in this list of LSG.

Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans are the 2 new teams in IPL. Gujarat Titans have won one title in their three-year IPL journey and have been runners-up once. The performance of Lucknow Supergiants has not been so good. Lucknow team reached the playoffs twice and stood seventh for the third time.

Lucknow Super Giants’ performance was the worst in IPL 2024. After this, an argument was seen on the field between team owner Sanjeev Goenka and captain KL Rahul. As soon as this video surfaced during the live match, it was decided that everything was not going well within the team and KL Rahul would either leave the team or he/she would not be retained.

According to the website Cricinfo, KL Rahul’s name is not included in the retained list of Lucknow Super Giants. LSG is going to retain Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi and Nicholas Pooran for the IPL 2025 season. Apart from this, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan may get a chance as uncapped players.

It is not clear how much money will be given to which player for retention. But it is certain that LSG’s budget of Rs 120 crore will be reduced by Rs 51 crore. West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran is expected to get the highest amount. The franchise had bought him/her for Rs 16 crore in 2023. A team can spend a maximum of Rs 120 crore in the IPL auction.
