The New Zealand team, captained by Tom Latham, has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series by winning the first two tests of the 3-match series. After this historic series win, New Zealand captain Tom Latham said that the Indian team’s dominant play and the toss being decided in their favor in the first two Test matches were important factors in the historic series win.

New Zealand took an unassailable 2-0 lead by defeating India by 113 runs in the second test. India lost the first test in Bengaluru by eight wickets. After this, due to the defeat in the second test match here also, its streak of being unbeaten in the last 18 series was also broken. Latham told reporters after the victory, ‘We adopted the style of dominating India. We were successful in giving them a shock in the beginning itself. Apart from this, the decision of toss also went in our favor. It really played an important role for us. We wanted to present a tough challenge to them and give them a shock in the beginning in which we were successful. We also performed well in batting which was really important. Our bowlers played very well. It was great to see his/her performance like this.

Latham, who was a part of the New Zealand team in the 2016 and 2021 tours of India, said that the toss also played a major role in the success of the Kiwi team. India had won the toss in the first test match but while batting, its team was out for only 46 runs. Latham’s decision to bat first after winning the toss in the second Test match was successful. According to Latham, ‘The decision on the toss was in our favor. I think here I won the toss for the first time. The toss has played an important role for our team, especially in the first Test match played in Bengaluru. In the second test, Mitchell Santner played an important role in New Zealand’s victory by taking 13 wickets and the captain also praised him/her highly.

Latham said, ‘Mitch has been playing for Chennai Super Kings for a long time. he/she has been a part of our cricket team for a long time and we know what a useful bowler he/she is. The team is really proud of him/her for the way he/she bowled.
