Hrishikesh Mukherjee… Chief Justice got angry when the lawyer took the wrong name of the judge, what is the whole matter?

New Delhi: In the Supreme Court, a lawyer mispronounced the name of the judge, due to which everyone present in the court room started laughing. The lawyer called Justice Hrishikesh Roy as ‘Justice Hrishikesh Mukherjee’. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud immediately interrupted the lawyer and said that the lawyer should know the names of the judges. The incident occurred when a lawyer was referring to a previous hearing. he/she said, ‘This matter was before Justice Hrishikesh Mukherjee.’ The Chief Justice immediately interrupted and said, ‘Hrishikesh Mukherjee or Justice Hrishikesh Roy? You will make Roy Mukherjee, you should know your judges. This is the limit. Please go and see the website.’Justice Hrishikesh Roy was sworn in as a Supreme Court judge in September 2019. Before this, he/she had been the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court and a judge in Guwahati High Court. Before becoming a judge, he/she was a senior lawyer. Due to the lawyer’s mistake, Justice Roy’s name got linked to famous filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
