New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi has formed a monitoring group under the chairmanship of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to ensure speedy implementation of his/her schemes and budget announcements. The first meeting of this group was held in the PMO on 18 October, in which all the secretaries participated. This group will meet every month in the PMO and review the progress of the projects.

Big responsibility handed over to Shivraj Singh Chauhan

Prime Minister Modi has entrusted Shivraj Singh Chauhan with the responsibility of monitoring the progress of all the schemes, budget announcements and subordinate laws announced since 2014. Additional Secretaries and Joint Secretaries working as nodal officers for various schemes will also participate in the meeting of this group. Although the government has not given further details about this monitoring group, it is believed that Chouhan will review the announcements listed on the PM’s portal, foundation stone laying projects by Modi, budget announcements, subordinate laws and other infrastructure projects.

PM worried due to delay in plans

Additionally, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will apprise the concerned secretaries of the PMO’s expectations, especially if a project is lagging or needs inter-ministerial support. It is believed that Prime Minister Modi is worried about the delay in implementing government schemes and has expressed his/her concern several times in closed-door meetings with secretaries and top officials of the PMO. This monitoring group headed by Chauhan is believed to be the result of this. 65-year-old Chauhan is considered an efficient administrator.

This monitoring group will keep an eye on the progress of the Prime Minister’s schemes, budget announcements and subordinate laws. This will ensure that these schemes are implemented timely and effectively. The formation of this group has raised hopes that the implementation of government schemes at the ground level will be expedited and people will benefit from it.
