Accountability should be fixed, justice should be given… What did Kharge and Rahul Gandhi say on the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai?

New Delhi: Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui was shot dead by an unidentified person in Mumbai’s Bandra East on Saturday evening. A police official said that the former state minister was admitted to the nearby Lilavati Hospital. However, he/she died. The incident took place outside the office of Baba Siddiqui’s son and MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar. Reactions of many leaders have come to light on the murder of Baba Siddiqui. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi also reacted to the incident and demanded justice.

‘Orders should be given for transparent investigation’

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while posting on X, said, the tragic demise of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui is shocking beyond words. In this hour of grief, I express my deepest condolences to his/her family, friends and supporters. Justice must be ensured and the present Maharashtra government must order a thorough and transparent investigation. The culprits should be punished as soon as possible. Accountability is paramount.

‘Government should take responsibility’

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, the tragic demise of Baba Siddiqui is shocking and sad. My thoughts are with his/her family in this difficult time. This horrific incident highlights the complete failure of law and order in Maharashtra. The government should take responsibility and justice should be done.

Let us tell you that Siddiqui had recently left Congress and joined NCP. An officer said, ‘Two to three bullets were fired. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
