New Delhi : Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in the city on Wednesday night. After this, the mortal remains of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, wrapped in the national flag, was brought to the NCPA lawn at Nariman Point in Mumbai on Thursday morning. Before the last rites, the crowd paid their last respects here. According to a statement from the Tata Trust, the mortal remains were taken on a last journey at 4 pm on Thursday.

In the video, the police band was seen playing funeral tunes along with trumpets and drums. The road leading to the NCPA lawn was cordoned off by the police. Therefore, Marine Drive Road ahead of Oberoi Hotel was closed.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also arrived

Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the funeral of the veteran industrialist on behalf of the Government of India. Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday night that the last rites will be performed with full state honours. According to an official statement from the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office, the state government has declared a day of mourning. Maharashtra CMO said that the national flag will be flown at half mast on all government buildings and no cultural or entertainment program of the government will be organized today. Ratan Tata’s last rites will be performed with full state honours.
