Joe Root equaled Sachin, but far away from Virat’s record, scoring a double century made Pakistan miserable.


New Delhi. Joe Root, who is in great form, has scored a double century against Pakistan. This is the sixth double century of England’s number-1 batsman Joe Root. With this, he/she has equaled Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in terms of most double centuries. However, an Indian is still ahead of Root.

The first test match of the 3-match series is being played between England and Pakistan in Multan. Batting first in this match, Pakistan scored 556 runs. England gave a befitting reply to Pakistan and scored runs quickly and took the lead in the first innings. Joe Root scored a double century for England. Root completed his/her double century in 305 balls, which included 14 fours.

This is the sixth double century of Joe Root’s Test career. With this, he/she has equaled the record of scoring six double centuries of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Apart from these three, Kane Williamson, Ricky Ponting, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Marvan Atapattu also scored 6-6 double centuries in their Test career.

Virat Kohli has scored 7 double centuries in his/her Test career. In this way, Joe Root may have scored more runs and more centuries than his/her Fab Four teammate Kohli, but he/she is behind in terms of double centuries. Virat Kohli has scored 8947 runs with the help of 29 centuries in 115 test matches. Joe Root has scored more than 147 runs in 12 Tests with the help of 35 centuries.
