The trust in Tata gained from that rhyme in childhood and this is an example of today’s business world.

Trust, faith, belief, calmness… even when such words started shrinking from practical life in the fast-paced world, Tata as a company and brand left no stone unturned in giving life to these words. Even today Tata is a name of trust and confidence. Tata means leisure. Whatever your salt to software needs, Tata is here to serve you. In today’s era, there are many companies like Tata which are in every business from salt to software, but there is hardly anyone ‘like’ Tata among them. Tata was trustworthy from day one and the thread of trust kept getting stronger from generation to generation. When the responsibility of maintaining this trust fell on the shoulders of Ratan Tata, he/she added another level of strength to this thread. Even today, Tata is a guarantee of peace. Which Indian would not have interference from Tata in his/her life? I was born in a village in Bihar. Some of my childhood friends there were very adept at rhyming. There came a time when the rhymes ‘Bada hi importance hai’ became popular. There is a line in those long rhymes – Tata in iron, Bata in shoes have great importance. Tata has been fresh in my heart and mind ever since. The first image of Tata in my mind was one of trust, faith and belief. Shraddha connected with Tata and it turned into faith. If there is Tata, there is peace, that is, no tension.

This childhood belief about Tata saved me from confusion last year when I decided to buy a car. Office colleagues said that Tata’s Nexon is good. That’s it, after thinking a lot, I decided that now I will buy only Tata car, be it Nexon or any other. However, under pressure from some well-wishers, he/she once went to the showroom of another famous car company of the country. The feeling of humiliation received from there cannot be forgotten in life. From there reached Tata showroom – the atmosphere was completely different. Life will never let you forget the feeling of hospitality received there. Then this feeling continues to be felt even during car services. How can you even forget?

This is my personal experience. In more than four decades, till date no one has been found who has expressed displeasure by using Tata goods. Someone’s expectations may be a little less fulfilled, but at least I have not come across any such story which gives a feeling contrary to expectations. After all, why doesn’t anyone feel contempt for Tata? Probably because Tata has infused the spirit of philanthropy into the foundation of his/her business empire. The basic objective of business is not profit, but service to the country, society and individual. This is the reason why no one, be it a Tata customer or employee, ever gets angry with the company to the extent of hatred.

Today Ratan Tata is not among us. he/she passed away from this world at the age of 86. There is mourning in the country and the world. What is common and what is special, everyone is saying only good words for Ratan Tata. I am in the office. There is not a single friend who has a negative word for Tata on his/her tongue, or who has a look of hatred on his/her face. In such a multi-coloured world where people do not hesitate to find faults in their father and even in God, it is not common to find words of reverence, respect and praise only for Ratan Tata. Ratan, he/she was truly Ratan – Ratan of Mother India, Ratan of all of us, Ratan of every people.
