Congress raised questions on Haryana results, Election Commission wrote a letter to Kharge, know what it said


New Delhi: Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been called by the Election Commission to discuss the results of Haryana Assembly elections. This meeting has been called after some Congress leaders raised questions on the Haryana election results. The Election Commission sent a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today i.e. 9 October 2024. In this letter, the Commission has expressed concern over the statements given by Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Kheda on October 8. These leaders had described the Haryana election results as ‘unacceptable’.

Election Commission wrote a letter to Congress President

The Election Commission, in its letter sent to Mallikarjun Kharge, has said that such statements are against the democratic tradition of the country. This is like denying public opinion. The Commission also said that elections in the entire country including Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana are conducted according to the same rules and regulations. The Election Commission has also referred to the statements of the Congress President and the Leader of the Opposition, in which they had described the results of Haryana as ‘unexpected’.

Congress leaders had raised questions on Haryana results

Congress leaders had said that the party will analyze the election results and present its complaints before the Election Commission. Congress had sought time to meet the Election Commission with its 12-member delegation. This delegation also includes Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Kheda.

Commission raised questions on the statements of Congress leaders

The Election Commission has accepted that Congress leaders have expressed their views on Haryana results. However, the statement of the party president is the official stand of the Congress. Therefore, the Commission has given time to meet the Congress delegation at 6 pm today at Sukumar Sen Hall of Nirvachan Sadan.
